What are core sample transport containers?
Core sample transport containers are used to collect an uninterrupted core sample of soil, cement, or other constitution from the ground. The container is used to protect the sample until time of testing. Testing may include determining the density, permeability, and compressibility of sample for mining.
What materials are used in a core sample transport container?
Core sample transport containers are manufactured from recycled PVC pipe. Once the sample has been taken, a pipe cap (see pipe fittings) is placed on the end of the pipe to ensure the sample remains undisturbed, and to assist with sample transportation. Tape is used to secure the cap to the end of the pipe.
What size do core sample transport containers come in?
The standard PVC pipe size is PN80, however core sample transport containers can be manufactured as per customer specification. The length of the container is dependant on the amount of soil or cement required.
